Another Convergence Quilt in progress

I finished piecing another convergence quilt last night. For this I used one yard of fabric I dyed using Fuchsia, Turquoise, and Periwinkle dyes (that is my favorite color combination). I cut the fabric into two inch strips and then offset the strips by about an inch and then sewed them back together. Only a true quilter would cut apart fabric only to sew it back together.)Then I turned the quilt 90 degrees, cut it again into two inch strips, offset it by one block and then sewed them back together. I love that you can still see the overall movement of the colors in the various blocks. It makes it look a lot more complicated than it actually was. It's amazing how much fabric the seams take up. I used extremely small seams but my fabric still went from 37x40 inches to 30x32 inches. I plan on squaring up the quilt and then using some navy blue fabric I dyed last night for the borders.
Here is a picture of the fabric before I cut it up.

Convergence Quilt

I started this quilt this past summer using my hand-dyed fabrics. I used four fat quarters that I dyed. They were some of the first fabrics that I dyed and I really didn't care for a couple of them, but after they were pieced they all looked great together. I used Ricky Tims Harmonic Convergence pattern for the quilt. The narrow frame is a piece of purple fabric that I had leftover from a past project and the wide frame is the remainder of the fat quarters.

After quilting the baby quilt I finally got up the nerve to finish this quilt. I used a variegated thread and a stipple stitch to quilt it. I used a different piece of my hand dyed fabric to bind the quilt.

My first quilt

I made this quilt as a baby gift for a friend. The yellow and blue ducky fabric is a reproduction print I found in a quilt shop, the other fabrics were from Joann's. I used a soft fleece as the backing and I didn't use any batting in the middle (I played with it but it just made the quilt way to bulky.) This was my first attempt at stipple quilting, and I'm happy with the way it turned out. The finished quilt was around 40" square.
